Do These 5 Things if You Have Autoimmune

Updated: Oct 23, 2022

Autoimmune disorders affect 4% of the global population, and doctors are not trained to address the root cause. As a result, people commonly trigger on multiple disorders as their bodies continue to express autoimmunity over time.

Cellular inflammation is the factor that keeps people chronically sick. Cellular inflammation is caused by the bioaccumulation of toxins and interferences over one’s lifetime. Many people are unaware of specifically which toxins and interferences exist in their body that have triggered autoimmunity. Once the root cause is identified, it can be proactively removed in order to optimize health and longevity.

Our cells replicate, and we humans are composed of 30 trillion cells - that’s 30,000,000,000,000! We want those cells to be healthy so that we can continue to replicate more healthy cells.

The 100 Autoimmune Disorders

There are over 100 autoimmune disorders that have been identified, and they all have the same root cause, cellular inflammation and damaged mitochondria.

Patients are told that autoimmunity is not resolvable, and they are simply put on medications for life, or told to undergo surgeries. The truth is that the body can heal from these conditions, once cellular inflammation is eliminated. The root cause of inflammation must be identified and future inflammation must be mitigated in order to restore and maintain optimal health.

Once you understand what is causing autoimmunity in your unique body, the solution is available, and there is hope! In this article, we will be discussing strategies to mitigate, as well as one strategy that will allow you to identify and proactively eliminate the root cause of autoimmunity.

#1: Eat Anti-Inflammatory Foods

Over the years, I have helped clients who swear they are eating healthy. Some of them have even gone to the extent of growing their own organic gardens and farming their own foods. Knowing what foods to eat is incredibly important since one of the greatest sources of toxins we are exposed to are those from the foods that we eat every day.

Most people continue to eat foods that continually put them in a state of chronic inflammation. Sugar and foods that convert to sugar are the most insidious sources of toxins, and these foods should be avoided at all costs. These include sugar (of course), as well as all grains, including rice, wheat, corn, etc. Each time these foods are consumed, it causes blood sugar and glucose spikes which directly cause inflammation.

Another source of inflammation is consuming foods that are just difficult to digest. When our food is unable to be broken down, remnants remain in the digestive tract and cause the disorder of leaky gut. This condition causes the erosion of the intestinal lining, which allows undigested food particles into the bloodstream, which directly causes inflammation of the GI tract.

Many people with autoimmune diseases do not consume enough good fats. Worse yet, many of my patients had been on a plant-based or vegan diet for years, and present as the sickest patients I have seen. Getting enough good fats while cutting down on carbs is essential to the healing process and overall health.

The best sources of fats come from organic grass-fed meats and butter, ghee, tallow, and pure organic olive oil. The cellular membrane is made of fat, cholesterol and even saturated fat and our cells need these good fats to heal and to become the body’s preferred fuel.

Bad fats turn rancid in the body and stay in our system for 90 days, causing severe inflammation and disease. Among the worst fats are vegetable and any seed oils, such as canola, corn, safflower, sunflower, cottonseed, and soy.

#2 Reduce Emotional Toxins

We all experience stress throughout our lifetime; however, chronic stress triggers inflammation and cytokines. People with autoimmune disorders often suffer from sleep issues, which causes stress, which causes sleep problems. You get the picture.

Sleep problems are linked to the symptoms of brain fog, mood disorders, memory loss, and poor mental processing functions.

Addressing sleep issues is an important part of the healing process, and restorative sleep has endless benefits. One of the most important benefits is that restorative sleep allows your brain to detox the glymphatic system. This process allows the filtering of dirty cerebrospinal fluid so that renewed fluid can replace it.

Here are the strategies that I use in order to optimize my own sleep:

Use an eye mask to block out all light

Turn your phone and other electronic devices off to avoid EMFs

Establish a nightly routine

Go to bed and wake up at the same time each day

Try meditation before sleep

#3 Hydrate

Although most people understand the importance of hydration, one of the major reasons people end up in the emergency room is dehydration! The topic of hydration can be quite complex, since there are many myths surrounding water types and forms.

Hydrating with the purest water is essential, as the body uses water to detox from toxins, including the drainage pathways. Hydration allows our red blood cells to carry oxygen, promotes better heart function, is a great weight manager, and lessens joint pain.

That being said, I recommend that clients never drink tap water. Tap water is fraught with toxins, fluoride, heavy metals, parasites, and even prescription medication. If we are using water to flush away toxins, it makes sense that we would want that water to be toxic-free.

I personally use a countertop water distiller at my home, from My Pure Water. This guarantees that my water is literally 100% pure and convenient. The unique distillation process removes the water from the toxins. You can add back some minerals to remineralize the water, although food is the best source from which to get the most absorbable minerals your body needs.

Other water filtration systems flush the water through filters to attempt to get the toxins out, and are not nearly as pure as a distiller.

I like to super hydrate when I get up in the morning and drink 16 ounces of pure water. I recommend drinking water throughout the day to get another 4-6 glasses. When you also ensure to get enough electrolytes each day, such as 1 pack LMNT, then the water that you do drink will cross the cellular membrane and create true hydration.

#4 Keep Everything Moving

Think of your body as fluid, constantly taking things in and filtering back out. The worst thing for the body is stagnation, which causes toxic backup and cellular inflammation.

For example, an unhealthy gut is one of the most common symptoms of autoimmune disorder. I have met new clients who only experience one bowel movement every few days! The goal is to have 2-3 normal bowel movements daily.

Constipation is a perfect example of poor movement, which causes a backup of toxins throughout the drainage pathway. These toxins become stagnant and leach into the bloodstream, causing more autoimmune issues and symptoms.

Keeping your physical body healthy and moving is also important, in order to promote good circulation, joint and muscle health and is good for helping your lymphatic system drain through sweat. If you are not feeling well, it is still important to do the level of exercise and activity that is comfortable for you now, and then just work up to a greater level as you can.

I have been an athlete all of my life, and my routine now involves walking my dog (Bear) several times a day, swimming, playing pickleball, and lifting weights. I really love mixing it up, and vacations always involve hiking and other outdoor activities. Just find some activities you truly enjoy, and start incorporating them into your life. Enjoyment is important!

Other strategies to keep things moving include massages, chiropractic adjustments, and infrared saunas.

#5 Implement the Right Solutions

If we have found each other, chances are you have been researching for the right solution or combination of strategies to heal from autoimmune. There is so much confusing advice being dispensed, some of which can even be detrimental to your health.

Over the past 20 years, I have been singularly focused on helping clients privately with autoimmune disorders to heal naturally. In order to help more people, I have created a new coaching and training program - The Foundation Program.

If you have been struggling with your health, and are tired of searching and being your own Google Doctor, let me teach you how to determine the root cause of your autoimmune challenge, and give you the exact solutions that will enable your body to heal. You will learn the exact information I teach my private clients, and you can implement it at your own pace.

All of the topics we just discussed and much more are covered in depth, along with the science, health assessments, how to interpret your labs, action plans, resources, and a list of my favorite brands and tools.

I sincerely hope you will join me to regain your health and finally live the life of your dreams.
