What is a Aviation Medical Exam (AME)?
An aviation medical exam is a health assessment required for pilots, air traffic controllers, and certain aviation professionals to ensure they are physically and mentally fit to perform their duties safely. Dr. Nathan March is an FAA-authorized senior Aviation Medical Examiner (AME). The exam includes a review of medical history, vision and hearing tests, blood pressure check, and other evaluations depending on the class of certification (First, Second, or Third Class). The goal is to identify any medical conditions that could impair safe operation of an aircraft. Passing the exam is necessary to obtain or renew an FAA medical certificate. Dr. March is an instrument rated pilot.
